Interested in the Norwegian vegetation? Youhave come to the right place
The Norwegian Botanical Association (NBA) is an association for all who wish to learn more about and protect wild plants in Norway, be it trees, flowers, algae, mosses or lichen.
The association was founded in 1935 and has since been the most important gathering point for botanists, both amateurs and professionals, from all over the country. Everyone, even if you don´t know the name of a single flower, is welcome to become a member.
The NBA hosts hundreds of hikes, excursions, presentations, courses, “dugnader” and gatherings all over the country every year. This is made possible through efforts by the fantastic members our 14 regional associations (grunnorganisasjoner, GO), which together cover the entire country. Two GOs are national; Moseklubben (The Moss Club) and Norsk Lavforening (The Norwegian lichen association).
We aim to preserve the diversity of the Norwegian nature through the following guidelines:
1. Stimulating people’s interest in plants
2. Mapping and monitoring vegetation
3. Protecting and restoring threatened nature types and species
